His posture was so perfect she felt the need to stand up straighter. She took his hand and held it tightly in the hopes he would realize that meant that they needed to stop and wait for the light to change before crossing the street. She remembered the way he had walked down the street, cars honking at him, not caring. She really hoped he had learned about how streets worked by then.
"It can have a really negative effect. Plus, people get addicted to the drugs but don't have the money to buy them, so they steal and rob people to get more." She slid her sunglasses on with her free hand just as the light changed and the walk signal lit up. She hardly needed to lead the way - the entire crowd started to move.
"I'm really glad you're here," she said with a crooked grin, looking sideways and up in his direction.
